Calea dream herb is also known as dog grass or Calea zacatechichi ("bitter grass"). This little known herb has a long history of shamanic uses. It can be smoked or drunk as a tea to induce vivid and intense dream states.

It´s used by the Chontal Indians of Mexico to obtain divinatory messages during dreams and in Mexican folk medicine it is used as an aperitif and to improve the natural metabolism. To these Indians Calea Zacatechichi is known as ´leaf of god,´ and it is valued ´for the clarification of the senses,´ ´visions seen in dreams,´ and as a ´secret plant´ to induce visions.
According to MacDougall, ´sufficiency of the dose taken is said to be indicated by a sense of repose, when the person hears his own heart and pulse beat.´

This is a potent 10 to 1 powdered extract, meaning that 1 gram of extract is equal in potency to 10 grams of whole herb. This is an organic extract, in which the herb is dissolved in edible grain alcohol, then the alcohol is completely evaporated, leaving nothing but a potent powdered herb concentrate.

Effects
Calea provides a restful and drowsy effect. The psychoactive effect is subtle and can be described as dreamlike. Mexican Indians consider calea a hallucinogen, although no hallucinogenic alkaloid has yet been isolated. According to MacDougall, "sufficiency of the dose taken is said to be indicated by a sense of repose, when the person hears his own heart and pulse beat".

Usage
When smoked about 0.1 gram is needed, taken orally it requires 0.5 to 1.0 gram depending on your bodyweight, ingested food and so on.
