Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is indigenous to the rain forests of South East Asia, mainly Thailand, Borneo New Guinea and Malaysia. It is a large tree that can be as tall as 15 meters with a spread of 4,5 meters. The stem is erect and branching. Flowers are yellow. Leaves are evergreen, and are a dark glossy green in color, ovate-acuminate in shape, and opposite in growth pattern. Over 25 alkaloids have been isolated from kratom, the most important being mitragynine (66%).

In Thailand it was used in many dishes, before it was banned by the government. There are several ways of taking kratom. In traditional use the dried leaves are smoked, chewed, made into tea or made into an extract.
It has been used since hundreds of years as a substitute for opium. A small minority of users use kratom to prolong sexual intercourse.

Effects
Effects come on within five to ten minutes after use, and last for several hours. Kratom has both stimulating and depressant qualities as if chewing coca leaves and smoking opium simultaneously. Some sources say that it is a stimulant in lower doses, becoming sedative in higher doses. The dominant effects seem to be similar to opiate drugs, including analgesia, roughly comparable in strength to codeine. Unlike opiates, mitragynine does not appear to cause nausea or vomiting. The feeling has been described as happy, strong, and active, with a strong desire to do work. Other effects of mitragynine are local anesthesia and central nervous system depression. Heavy use can result in a prolonged sleep.

Usage
Thai kratom leaves are active from 1 gram. Because this is a Thai extract 5x, you will only need 0.2 grams for a light experience. Use 0.6 - 1 gram for a normal high and up to 1 gram for really strong effects. It can be mixed with any liquid (hot water, juice or or a milk shake for example).

Warning
We advise not to participate in traffic or other activities that demand your concentration. Usage of kratom in high dosages may be mildly addictive. Acute side effects include dry mouth, loss of appetite and constipation. Side effects from long term use include anorexia and weight loss, insomnia, and a darkening of the skin, particularly on the cheeks. Do not combine wit MAO-inhibitors.
